Quality Electronic Manufacturing Services, Inc. (QEMS) was incorporated in Charlotte, NC in January 2002 by a partnership of investors and seasoned engineers with a long history of working together in the manufacture of printed circuit board assemblies, cable assemblies, and electronic systems. QEMS’ experience has included PCB design, Quality Systems (ISO9000, QS9000),Interconnect Standards (IPC610), purchasing, SMT, MRP, and a full range of technologies and techniques essential to success in the Electronic Manufacturing business.

For the customer, this means that to the traditional offering of consignment EMS, QEMS can provide Technical Design Manufacturing Services, such as Design for Manufacturing.

We at QEMS, Inc. are extremely interested in developing long term relationships with top flight companies and we believe we can offer very aggressive pricing on through hole or SMT printed circuit assemblies in any quantity range from prototypes to medium volume runs. We are also equipped to produce a wide variety of cable assemblies / cable harnesses and have the capability to perform pc board rework / repair services for your operation.

In the assembly of your pcb/boards and in the integration of your systems, we offer you a whole variety of state-of-the-art technologies and established processes.

Design for Manufacturing (TDMS)

The design stage is very important in product design. Most of the product lifecycle costs are committed at design stage. The product design is not just based on good design, but it should be possible to produce by manufacturing as well.

Turnkey and Consignment Manufacturing

Oftentimes as customers are prototyping circuit boards, they choose to procure the material and provide it to their supplier.

Printed Circuit Board Assembly

What makes QEMS different is our deep technical expertise and dedication to quality and customer service. We’re confident that our customers will receive top customer service and the best quality products.

Through Hole and Surface Mount Technologies

As technology grows, the demand for less weight and smaller size component increases. This leads to new improved technology known as surface mount technology (SMT). Surface mount components are similar to plated through hole as far as their electrical function is concerned, but the key difference is size.

Fine Pitch, uBGA, CSP, 01005 Component Placement

Up-to-date automated cell assembly equipment for fine pitch, mixed, single-double sided, lead and lead free assemblies. These machines are capable of handling passive packages up to 0201 with expansion capabilities up to 01005 package sizes. Active component packages will include BGA, uBGA, CSP and MCM.

Automated Optical Inspection

The need for automated inspection exists in all PCB assembly processes where high quality and safety standards apply. What is needed is a reliable AOI system that provides maximum inspection coverage and measured feedback to the process.

Functional Testing

The functional test is typically performed in the last phase of the production line of a product as a final quality control. FCT are performed to ensure that the device under test (DUT) fulfills its functional specifications.

Flex Circuit SMT Assembly

Flexible Circuits require special handling and processing beyond what is normal best practices for rigid PCB Printed Circuit Board assembly. By definition, flexible circuits are flexible and made of different materials that react differently to heat and moisture.

Printed Circuit Board Repair Service

Whether you need help with a thousand circuit boards or just a few, we can complete the job and get your PCBs back to you for a charge that’s generally just a fraction of the circuit board’s value.

Epoxy – Potting

Electrical potting compounds are based on one and two-component epoxy resin and two-component polyurethane resin chemistries. They are solvent-free liquids, 100 percent solids formulated epoxy resin and polyurethane resin compounds.

Conformal Coating

Conformal coating is a protective chemical coating or polymer film 25-75µm thick (50µm typical) that ‘conforms’ to the circuit board topology. Its purpose is to protect electronic circuits from harsh environments that may contain moisture and or chemical contaminants.

Cable – Wire Harness Assembly

Our experienced staff puts a wealth of cross-industry knowledge into every wire harness and cable assembly solution. For one customer, our engineers realized time and money savings by utilizing a communications connector for an aftermarket automotive application. This type of value-added solution for wire harness assembly and custom cable assemblies is commonplace among our design engineering team, which we’re proud to provide, along with a highly capable production team.

Let us take care of the completion and assembly of fully integrated electronic systems, including tailor-made test design and professional test execution. Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA) is our core service. We can produce single sided, double sided and multi-layer PCBs.

Functional Testing

We perform functional tests in the last phase of production. This is a final quality control measure to ensure your device under test (DUT) fulfills its functional specifications.

Design for Manufacturing (TDMS)
